Gatwick Airport
About 100 airlines fly from Gatwick to almost 200 destinations worldwide. Gatwick is the busiest single runway airport in the world. It is also the second largest airport in the UK and the sixth busiest international airport on earth. Gatwick is located 28 miles south of London, but the airport has fast rail and convenient road links, so it is easy to navigate. More than 900 rail services operate daily to and from the airport along with more than 40 express coach services. It pays to pre-book Gatwick airport parking because the car parks fill up quickly. It’s a busy airport for UK travellers. Some of the car parks have spaces organized for late arrivals, but there aren’t a lot. The facilities at the North and South terminals are ideal for those who want to shop while at the airport, but its burgeoning popularity means Gatwick is always busy.

The Terminals
The North Terminal opened in 1988. Over 31 million passengers pass through Gatwick each year. Most British Airways flights, Delta Air Lines, some overseas airlines' services and a limited number of charter flights are handled through this terminal. The South Terminal takes most of Gatwick's traffic, as it serves domestic, international and charter flights. Within the airport you can also have a unique shopping experience. It offers a large range of designer brands and high street retailers providing different products and services. Some items can even be purchased duty-free. In addition, there are a number of cafes, restaurants and bars, as well as executive lounges for the on-the-go business traveller.

Further Information
The two terminals connect through a ‘free transit,’ which is a light railway. You can move between the terminals in about five minutes; the service also runs at a five-minute interval. If you have enough time, you can easily take the transit to explore the other terminal. The South Terminal also has a satellite building, which you can access by another light railway, but only passengers can access it. Both terminals have bureaux de change, ATMs, shops, duty-free outlets, restaurants and bars. The South Terminal has a post office and a medical centre that provides vaccinations. There is a lot of shopping too. Specifically, there is a music shop, a pharmacy, some clothing shops, a bookshop, a shoe shop, a sports shop, a gift shop, an electrical goods shop and a newsstand. You can get stamps here as well. Baby changing rooms are also available along with children's play areas, which are free for children aged between two and six.
